Children learn far more than English, math, science, and history during their school years—they spend as many waking hours with teachers and peers as they do with their families. For these and many other reasons, the decision about which school a child attends is one of the most important decisions a parent will ever make. We are humbled that you are considering SVC for this high honor.
Spend a few minutes with Erick Streelman and you will quickly discover that he is passionate about Christian education — largely because of how formative it was in his own life. He attended Valley Christian Schools in Cerritos for 13 years. “I am who I am because of the teachers, coaches, and administrators who walked with me,” said Mr. Streelman.
As Head of School, Mr. Streelman is responsible for overseeing the mission and vision of SVC. His experience, education, and gifting from the Lord make him well-qualified for this important task. He has worked in education for 15 years as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Prior to joining SVC in 2016, he served as a member of the Executive Team and as Athletic Director at Archbishop Murphy High School in Seattle. He attended University of Nevada, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (graduating first in his class), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Organizational Management.
Mr. Streelman’s enthusiasm for Christian education in general and for SVC in specific is palpable. “I believe that our teachers can change the world through their influence on the next generation.”

With over 35 years’ experience as a classroom teacher and administrator, Lori Jensen is the consummate educator. Her ministry at SVC began in 1998, teaching 1st and 2nd grades. In 2001, she accepted the position of Elementary Principal; in 2013, she added the role of Junior High Principal.
Mrs. Jensen is responsible for the day-to-day operations and programs of both school levels. Her wholehearted goal is to provide our Elementary and Junior High students with the best experience possible. As such, she is constantly evaluating new programs and curriculum, adding innovative teaching methodologies, and pursuing collaborative efforts.
“Being surrounded by children who are excited to be at school is a blessing — every day,” said Mrs. Jensen. “I get to witness students accomplish great things academically, grow in their relationship with Jesus, and explore what God’s purpose is for their lives. This is why we become Christian school educators.”
365体育备用网址She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, a Multiple Subject Credential, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. Married to husband Bill for 36 years, the Jensens have two daughters — both of whom are SVC alumni. She treasures her time with family and friends, loves to travel, read, and watch old movies (with a Dr. Pepper and Nacho Doritos in hand). In addition to her ministry at SVC, Mrs. Jensen is a small group leader for a women’s Bible study at her church.
365体育备用网址In 1998, one year after the inception of SVC, Rod Markum was hired as the school’s Athletic Director. Under his leadership, the athletics program grew from very humble beginnings into what is now one of the most well-respected and successful programs in Orange County. In addition to serving as AD, Mr. Markum also spent his first eight years at the school in the classroom, teaching both High School History and Bible.
In 2016, he took the reins as the High School Principal. He is tasked with leading the academic, spiritual, athletic, and social direction of the High School, and guiding the faculty to meet the school’s goals. During his tenure, Mr. Markum has instituted several new programs, including a comprehensive service program (all High School students are required to complete service hours) and advisory cohorts (click here to read about HS cohorts). He also launched Magnet Programs and “Seminars,” semester-long topical courses designed to give students the opportunity to explore areas of interest to them.
“I love what I do because I get to be a part of our students’ growth,” said Mr. Markum. “It’s a privilege to work alongside of our faculty and inspire students to reach for more than they thought possible.”
365体育备用网址Mr. Markum holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. He is an ordained pastor. His wife, Shannon, is a long-time SVC High School teacher. The Markums have three children, all of whom are SVC Warriors (two alumni and one current student).
At SVC, we affectionately call our Preschool “The Second Happiest Place on Earth.” Tammy Huebner has the joy of leading this wonderful part of our ministry. “I am passionate about my work at SVC because of my love for children – how they think, how they learn, how they express themselves,” said Mrs. Huebner. “I know how much the little ones matter to Jesus and I understand the responsibility of those who influence them.”
365体育备用网址It’s Mrs. Huebner’s great love for children that routinely takes her out of her office and into the classrooms. In addition to her administrative duties, she enjoys singing with and reading to the children. A highlight for her is leading each week’s chapel.
365体育备用网址Mrs. Huebner began teaching in SVC’s early childhood program in 2003. She assumed the Director’s duties in 2008. Prior to joining this ministry, she taught at other Orange County preschools. Her degree is in Early Childhood Education, specializing in ages 2 – 5. She also holds an Early Education Director Certificate from Vanguard University.
365体育备用网址Although Mrs. Huebner relishes being SVC’s Preschool Director, her favorite job title is “mom.” She and her husband of 26 years, Jason, have three children — all of whom attended and graduated from SVC.
The Bible is very clear about the importance of proper stewardship. “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” 1 Cor 4:2. As Controller, Linda Stewart takes this mandate very seriously. She is responsible for all of the accounting operations of the school.
365体育备用网址Ms. Stewart has more than 20 years’ experience working in the private sector, in public accounting, and as the CFO of a multi-million dollar corporation. She is also experienced in the nonprofit arena, having spent several years working for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She attended the University of San Diego, where she earned a degree in Business Administration/Accounting.
She feels blessed to be a part of the SVC community: “I’m grateful to work for an organization which is dedicated to expanding and nurturing not only the minds, but the hearts and souls of our children.”
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, taking part in outdoor activities, and spending time with her family, including two “beautiful, grown children.”
